American History Literature Email to friendEmail to a Friend
Will sell all four books together for only $20, or sell each sepearately for $6 each. They include "Bud, Not Buddy" by Christopher Paul Curtis, "One More River" by Lynne Reid Banks, "Captains Curageous" by Rudyard Kipling, and "The Land" by Mildred D. Taylor. Excellent for literary analyses, book reports, supplements for American history, etc. Please note: Although "The Land" is a well-written book, there are profanities and crude references to other races, etc. that can turn off some people. It is best if the parent reads aloud (and modifies the curse words) to younger children, and at least pre-read and be aware of these things for older children. "The Land" can be somewhat "heavy" reading, but it is eye-opening to what life was like for some people after the Civil War, and I highly reccomend it. If you can overlook the cussing and racial slurs (hard for any conscientous parent!), then can truly enjoy this book.

Institute of Basic Life Principles Seminar Email to friendEmail to a Friend
Our family is planning to host an Institute of Basic Life Principles Seminar this spring and would like to hear from anyone who would like to join us. The Seminar is now avaiable on DVDs for in home viewing, so you would not need to meet with anyone or anywhere or at a particular time. We just need about 8 other individuals (or a couple of families) to make this possible. For more information you can check of the website at www.iblp.org.

Invitation to Join in the Howard Comm College Math Week Email to friendEmail to a Friend
You are invited to attend a guest lecture by Mary Batcher on Math and Voting on Wednesday, April 2nd at 12:30 on the Howard Community College campus. Come explore the intricacies of auditing voting in the US and other nations. Mrs. Batcher is a Senior Statistician at Ernst and Young and is widely known and respected for her volunteer work in voting. She says we worry about monitoring elections in other countries where democracy is new and we are concerned about their elections being well run and clean, but what about here in the United States? Are our elections clean? Come hear her findings and learn what is done to monitor US elections. Please RSVP if possible to Mr. Baker at the above email address. Also if you have any questions please contact. Mr. Baker. Hope to see you there.
