CBA Policies
The following policies have been established by the Cedar Brook Academy
Board and apply to those families who have children enrolled in Cedar Brook
Academy.
CBA is a ministry and these policies are intended as an expectation of
responsible compliance with reasonable standards. CBA is committed to the
success of each family’s endeavor and is eager to work with families in any
way to resolve any difficulties as they might arise.
Payment of fees
A monthly summary of tuition and other fees assessed during the prior month
will be sent to each enrolled family. Families with account balances remaining
over 60 days will be placed on probationary enrollment status, and charged
a $25.00 late fee. Once notified of probationary status, it is the responsibility
of the family to contact Diane Branham to work out a payment plan. Families
with balances over 90 days (except with an approved payment plan) will be
dropped from enrollment. Complete payment of all accounts for a school year
is required prior to enrollment in the next year’s program or to receive transcripts
or transfer of student records.
Required records and forms
Student files are reviewed regularly and file updates are sent regularly informing
families of missing or late records or forms. Families with past due or missing
monthly or quarterly records will be notified by mail. This notification will
include a date by which the records must be received in the office. If the
records are not received by that date a $25 late fee will be charged to your
account. Records delinquent over 45 days will result in the student(s) being
removed from enrollment in the academy. (Accommodations can always be made
for extenuating circumstances. In these times please call the office so we
can work out a plan.)
Visit the forms section.
Wednesday and Thursday Class weather related cancellations
-
Elementary Wednesday Group Classes
are canceled only if the county public schools in the county where the CBA
classes are held (Howard and Montgomery) are closed for the day due to weather
conditions. In the event of inclement weather arriving late morning
on the day of Wednesday Classes we will post a message on the CBA office
number (301) 528-6705 - choose the option for "weather related schedule
changes" to check the status of the classes or other scheduled activities
for that day.
-
In the event of inclement weather or a local emergency, the status of
Thursday Classes for the Jr. and Sr. High
School students can be checked by 1) calling the CBA office after
7:30 am and pressing the “weather related schedule changes” option (number
1), OR 2) check the status on the CBA website, OR 3) listen for CBA to be
announced by the WTOP Storm Center on 1500 AM, 107.7 FM, or 820 AM. As
per academy policy, Thursday Classes are automatically cancelled if Montgomery
County schools are closed for the day due to weather conditions. If
Montgomery County schools are delayed due to weather conditions, CBA Thursday
Classes will start at 10:00 am and run on a normal schedule with classes
occurring at their normally scheduled times.
-
For field trips, other activities,
meetings or events, call the CBA office or check the web page.
Dress Code and Conduct for CBA classes and events
Neat and modest clothing is to be worn. Longer skirts and shorts are appropriate
- short skirts and short shorts are not. Tops covering shoulders and midriff
are necessary; jeans are acceptable. Grunge, punk, hip-hop, PJs, etc. style clothing
or accessories and any form of “costuming” is not appropriate. Extremes in
dress, make-up, hair or general appearance during classes and any other CBA
sponsored events or activities are inappropriate and not permitted. If a staff
member feels that the student is not in compliance with these standards they
will be given something else to wear for the day. Any student with repeated
violations will not be permitted to return to classes for the school year
and re-enrollment for the classes for the following year will be at the discretion
of the CBA Board of Directors. Unless otherwise communicated these guidelines
of dress and appearance apply to all CBA sponsored events and activities.
Students are expected to show respect and consideration for teachers, supervisors,
and one another and to respect the property, privacy and rights of others.
