- Dave Smith – Founder/Academy Administrator
Dave helped to found the academy program in 1984. He has been the administrator since that year. Dave, and his wife Peggy, home schooled all five of their children from kindergarten to graduation and have lived to tell the tale. Dave has served on the board of the Maryland Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE) as Deputy Director since 1989.
- Sharon Abbott – High School Administrator
Sharon came on staff in 1992 as the High School Administrator. Since that time she has helped hundreds of families navigate the waters of home schooling high schoolers. She and her husband home schooled their six children and are now happily in the grandparenting stage of life!
- Peggy Smith – Elementary Program Supervisor
Peggy was very involved in the “growing days” of the CBA ministry as a busy home school mom and a consultant in the area of curriculum and program development. Now in “semi-retirement”, she oversees the program reviews, teaches art at the Thursday Classes, and is available to offer consulting and program help for enrolled families.
- Diane Branham – Guidance Counselor/Billing
Diane remembers how her family’s prayers were answered when they received the acceptance letter from the academy in 1989. Her first staff position was family consultant in 1993. Since her last child graduated in 2000, she has worked as bookkeeper, guidance counselor, Thursday Class teacher, and office assistant. Her three students graduated, got jobs, are gainfully employed, and turned out pretty normal by the world’s standards.
- Kathy Frasier – Office Manager
Kathy started with Cedar Brook Academy in 1993 as a home schooling mom and graduated her last CBA student from high school in 2002. She began working with the CBA staff in 1994. She has held a variety of jobs with CBA; currently managing the office, school projects, staff schedules, and field trips. Her students have all graduated from college and are pursuing careers in various jobs serving the community at-large.
