CHEN Varsity Boys Soccer

CHEN sports would like to announce the official start of the 2017 CHEN Boys Varsity Soccer Season.
Christian Homeschool Educators Network is an organization that provides the opportunity for homeschool students to play various sports at junior varsity and varsity levels in the Maryland Independent Athletic Conference.
CHEN Boys Varsity Soccer is a competitive varsity team for grades 8-12, for players with higher levels of athleticism and stamina; previous soccer experience is encouraged. CHEN competes against various Christian and private schools in the Baltimore and northern DC areas; games and practices are held during the week. The season begins July 31; games begin the end of August and continue through October.
Practices will be held in the Catonsville area:
Monday, July 31st – Friday, August 18th practices will be:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:45 AM – 12:00 noon Tuesday, Thursday 5:45 – 8:00 PM Monday, Aug 21st through the end of the season:
Monday – Friday 3:15-5:30 pm* (except on game days) The first two weeks will be “training camp” where both new and returning players will compete to earn rosters spots/starting positions, after which final cuts will be made. Any roster additions after that time will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Players are expected to commit to each practice and game. Generally, the team plays 2-3 games per week, and practices are held on non-game days.
Games are usually at 4:00 PM; on M, T and Fridays. Team fees cover uniform purchases; game field rentals and referee costs; and equipment costs. Fees for the 2017 team are yet to be determined, but costs for new players will average between $300 and $400 per player. Each player is required to become a current member of CHEN for liability insurance coverage.
The CHEN 2016 season was very successful, and the team is looking to build off that this coming season. CHEN placed first in league points, second in the league championship, and were seeded 2nd overall in a state-wide school tournament last year.
Any interested players are encouraged to email janmlynch@comcast.net or leave a message on this page.
