College Prep Genius

An opportunity to help your student boost his/her SAT/ACT score to receive monies to attend college. It will consist of a 2 day bootcamp to provide the student with the tools they need to improve SAT/ACT scores. The program has been around for 14 years and was started by a homeschool mom, Jean Burke. Jean and her husband didn’t have money to send their kids to college and in exploring how to fund attending college discovered the SAT score was instrumental in obtaining scholarship monies.

Dates: Friday, 10/19 from 5- 9 pm and Saturday, 10/20 from 9 – 4 pm

Where: Christian Life Center, 3174 Green bValley Rd, Ijamsville, MD 21754

Cost: $295 student tuition and $195 sibling tuition
Early bird Special $245 with additional materials. I must receive your check must be received by 10/5/18 to qualify for the early bird special.

New Windstars Class at MCYBO

The Maryland Christian Youth Band and Orchestra is offering a new class – Windstars! – this fall. This class is specifically for the younger members who are not yet of age to play the traditional band and orchestra instruments. Children ages 6 to 8 years old learn how to read and play music on small great sounding and easy to play instruments that simulate real woodwinds. Classes are every Thursday at 4:00 PM in Ashton, MD starting in September. Visit our website, www.mcybo.org, for more details.

AP Literature and Composition Class

2018-2019 Advanced Placement Literature and Composition Class

Experienced former Washington Christian Academy English teacher and college Composition professor offering AP Literature and Composition class for the 2018-2019 school year.
I have a total of almost twenty years as an educator, including ten years teaching AP Lit, and six years serving as a reader/scorer for the College Board scoring AP Lit essays. I have taught various other high school literature and humanities courses as well as college Composition.
My curriculum is AP audited, and is taught from a Biblical worldview. Students engage in close, critical reading of a wide variety of literature with the goal of composing effective analysis.
Classes will meet once a week for 3 ½ hours.
Tuition: $450 per semester
Class can only be offered with a minimum of 12 students. Maximum class size is 16.
